"Onstage over the past several years my minimalist setup has changed little. Whether as a frontman, bandleader or sideman since the days of Token Eskimo, I've always relied on my 1965 stock Strat played through a 1965 Deluxe Reverb amp. Only occasionally using effects, most often a chorus pedal. For the acoustic side of things, I've been using the same Taylor 710
I picked up in 1983. I presently have the Fishman Natural II / Ellipse system installed by Mike Simon at Rockin Robin in Houston. (For serious gearheads who must know all, email us and all shall be revealed).
For the "...Bus" sessions, Jack Saunders and I spent the big half of the first day in the studio dialing in guitar tones. The following covers most if not all that we used at White Cat Studios between Feb. - Oct. '04."

Scott Waugh's answer to the old Tweed Deluxe amps from the '50s Scott also built Jack a "head only" version of this for the control room. This amp is all over the sessions, most notably on the electric slide tracks. Check out Storm Cloud. Ya Just Gotta Have One!

GUITARS
Davee used his own Martin OOO-18 JBP for 7 songs on the disc. "Jack liked the balance in the studio on the ballads and I really love how sweet it sings during the bridge on the title cut." For the more driving cuts, Davee used his Taylor 710. For Take It On The Run, Davee used the studio's 'Francisco Navarro Garcia' nylon string classical. Two Nationals were used during the sessions, a Style 'O' on the bridge of One Last One Night Stand and an Estralita on the title cut. We tracked a couple of tunes using CA's X Model when our friend Charlie Smith stopped by during the sessions.

ELECTRICS
Davee used his '65 Strat on West Hartford Lady and chose from the studio's selection for the rest of the tracks. The solos on Express Lane and Hold It In The Road were played on a Paisley Tele. The slide on Express Lane was done on a Les Paul Standard. Davee's electric guitar tracks on No Other Baby were done on two DeArmonds loaded with Filtertron pickups.
Jack used a '58 ES-125 through the Bassman for his track on It's Getting Late. He used the Tele and the DeArmonds through the AC-15 elsewhere.
Jack used a Robin Baritone on Starz and a Dan Electro Baritone on the remaining tracks where one is used.
Jack's bass tracks were cut with a custom '60s style Jazz Bass in the control room (for Jack's studio secrets, contact him at White Cat).
